3-Year-Old Remains Of 'Serial Blogger' Found In London Flat

Clive Danton - May 2015

The skeleton of a man described as a 'blogging obsessive' was discovered in a council flat in South London yesterday afternoon by workmen sent round to renovate the property.

The 67-year-old man, whose body had lain undiscovered for over 3 years, has been named as Toby Carter, a retired chartered accountant and widower of 12 years. Mr Carter, a virtual recluse since the death of his wife, was allegedly a devotee of the WordPress blogging site and had over 10,000 followers of his daily blog, which was based mainly on astrology, music and mild BDSM.

We managed to contact a few of his fellow WordPress associates last night, only one of whom remembered him particularly well.

Joan Darling, 58, from Melborne, Australia told us: "I vaguely remember the old chap. He was very prolific and never missed a day's blogging. His output was pretty dire as I remember. I'm quite sorry to hear he's dead mind"

David Shaw, 49, from Forfar in Scotland, said: "Dead for 3 years you say? I must admit I was mildly curious when he stopped blogging, but at the end of the day once people stop commenting on your work you tend to forget about them don't you?"

Margaret Dowling,62, from Deptford in South London, seemed to have slightly more vivid memories of Mr Carter however: "Oh yes, I remember Toby very well. We used to chat on the blog and email each other almost daily. He was a lovely chap and saw WordPress as his extended family. We'd even spoken briefly about visiting each others homes, we were that close. Naturally when I didn't hear from him for a few months I assumed he was dead. I was going to email him, but in the end I couldn't be bothered really"

WordPress told us that Mr Carter was a valued, long-term subscriber to their premium package, but that once he'd fallen behind with his payments, they deactivated his account and took him to court.
