Farrage Urges Blatter To "give it a day or two"

Clive Danton - June 2015

United Kingdom Independence Party leader, Nigel Farrage, has spoken out in support of beleagured FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, urging him to 'hang in there' after his shock resignation last night.

Farrage, who famously withdrew his resignation as leader of the far right party just days after stepping down, following his defeat in last month's general election, told reporters:

"If I were in Mr Blatter's shoes right now I'd give it a day or two for the dust to settle. His best bet would be to announce that he needs a bit of a break from the hurly burly of running the world game and that he plans on taking a long overdue holiday with the family. Then, after a few carefully staged photo shoots in which he's pictured down the pub having a few beers or posing with the wife and kids in the back garden, he could announce that he's had a rethink due to overwhelming support from his backroom staff and that he'll be back behind his desk first thing on Monday morning. Nobody will think the worst of him for it, trust me. Having said that, I do think he's been the architect of his own downfall to a certain extent. It's always been my firmly held view that you'll get nowhere in this world by getting too pally with the blackies"

"Hang in there Sepp old son. Those nasty press blokes will have forgotten all about it in a day or two"
